Might be fun to look at and find some new authors! I am VERY passionate about these authors and their books, and would dearly love to get to know them better. Ironic, when I’ve considered myself a musician all my life, now I’m more passionate about writing and things on the internet than my music, but that’s another blog altogether.

Pushing forty and alone, Pia Thomason heads to Europe on a singles tour, hoping to find romance. What she finds are two very handsome, very mysterious, and very undead men. And she learns that where vampires are concerned, love isn’t the only thing at stake.

***REVIEW***

Pia Thomason, 39, single and not ready to give up on romance.  So our Seattleite heroine signs herself up for a single cruise through romantic Europe.  But what she GETS is SO NOT what she bargained for!!

The few guys (men?) on the cruise aren’t the cream of the crop, and when she meets Kristoff and Alec, sparks fly, and NOT in a good way!   First, there’s the undeniable attraction between Pia and Alec, THEN she’s forced into a marraige with Kristoff after a night of passion with Alec.  And things with the three of them pretty much progress from there.

If you want a good book with passionate scenes of love-hate, some interesting plot twists, religious freaks and zealots that would almost make Westboro Baptist look tame (ok, so I’m exaggerating a HAIR…), this book is an EXCELLENT pick. MacAllister’s characters are believable, likable, and the story sucks you in.  I really enjoyed it.

UNDEAD ON ARRIVAL

Until now. A poisonous virus is wreaking havoc on Hunter’s immune system. And the passionate man who Sasha  loves has become unpredictable, dangerous—and possibly deadly. When Hunter disappears the night a human is found ravaged, Sasha is thrust into a race against the clock to find the cure for her mate…and the traitor who’s determined to see them both dead.

***REVIEW*** 

Sasha, Hunter and her team have just finished with the UCE Conference where they voted the Vampire Cartel out of the UCE.  The’ve been given 4 weeks of R&R after the conference, during which time Sasha has noticed that Hunter using more and more of the anti-toxin to keep the demon infection at bay.  She tells herself that it’s for this reason or that reason, but finally she admits that she has to face the truth: the infection is getting the better of him, and he’s becoming a threat. The problem for her is she’s the one who is going to have to take care of it.

Then, a man’s mutilated body is found in an alley where Sasha and Hunter were seen after he’d had an altercation with the victim.  And Hunter has no alibi for the night before.  Predictably, all hell breaks loose.  Sasha is on a mission to prove it WASN”T her mate, and it leads to some intersting discoveries about her friend Shogun, and her teammate and friend, Doc.

An interesting read with very likable characters, Banks brings many “what ifs” of DNA research to the plot and makes then plausible and realistic. VERY enjoyable read, and I look forward to more from this series!

As I said earlier, this was my first foray into the world of Kitty Norville, and I have to say, I LOVED IT!  Kitty and Ben were likeable characters.  Kitty was flawed, and human.  Ben was arrogant and very much an Alpha male, and every inch your typical lawyer.  I like them both.  I enjoyed watching them interact with each other, and feeling out their relationship in this book (I figured out pretty quickly that their wolf sides had mated previously, and that they were deciding whether or not they wanted to go along for the ride). The use of “We’re pack, we take care of each other” or something like that throughout the book, to each other to the point of making them both wonder if that’s the only reason they’re together was an interesting sideline, because I was fairly certain that Kitty loved him (even if she wasn’t!)

It was a great read, and I am DEFINITELY looking forward to reading more of the series.  Carrie Vaughn has done a wonderful job of creating characters that you either love, or love to hate (Carl and Meg anyone?)  It was a fast read, partly because I really couldn’t put it down, and once I’d finished it, I went back and re-read some sections, because I knew I’d missed parts because I’m (unfortunately) adhd and tend to skip at least words if not full sentences, so I go back to action scenes and re-read them to get the full scope of it.

When Kitty’s dad called to tell her that her mom was going in for surgery because she’d found a lump, I immediately felt for her.  My own mother is a breast cancer survivor, so this storyline hit home for me.  I fully understood why Kitty would say “to hell with the were and vampire politics, my mom’s sick, and I’m going to be there for her!” Watching her family go through this I remembered what it was like to watch my own mother go through her treatments.

This was an excellent book.
